Philip Myran Obituary

Philip Webster Myran (Gramps) was born to Mary and Carl Myran on August 24th, 1931. He grew up in Pierz, MN. As he grew up, he spent a lot of time working for a neighbor on their family farm. At the age of 20, Philip joined the Navy where he would later serve in Korea. Following his time in the Navy, Philip found the love of his life, Hazel, and they united in marriage in July of 1956. Together they had four daughters and one son. Philip and Hazel raised their family in the town of Hanley Falls for 39 years. Philip spent 18 of those years working for the Cottonwood Oil Co. In 1992, Philip and Hazel relocated to Granite Falls. Philip remained in Granite until a couple of years ago when he was moved into the Clarkfield Care Center.

One of the things Philip will be most remembered for is his love for fishing (and his amazing coleslaw). He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. They knew a visit to Gramps meant candy was coming their way! He also enjoyed his occasional outings to the casino with his daughters. It was never a dull moment when Gramps was around; he always had a story to tell or something funny to say.

Philip is survived by his daughters, Donna Foutch of Britt, IA and Sandy Myran of Marshall; grandchildren, Michael Schmidt of Council Bluffs, IA, Trisha (Fernando) Garcia of Dumont, IA, Corey Myran of Marshall, Kent (Kelsi) Miller of Milroy; 5 great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Alexander, Josie, Wesley and Zoey.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Carl Myran; wife, Hazel; daughters, Phyllis and Ines, and son Thomas. Blessed be his memory. A private family graveside service will be held at the East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery in Hanley Falls.
