Oscar was born on November 24th, 1930 at his home, to Oscar Sr. and Ida (Colston) Waller. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended country school and later went to school in Hanley Falls, where he completed the 8th grade and then helped on the family farm. He did a variety of construction work prior to becoming a farmer. Oscar married Phyllis Berg on June 2nd, 1951 at Israel Lutheran Church. As a young boy he spent time trapping, hunting, and fishing...this became a lifetime of some of the best memories with family and friends. He was a farmer who had a love for the land and he especially loved to hear the rumble of the combine when harvest season started up. He spent some time doing taxidermy work, for many years had livestock and also raised fox. Fur buying quickly turned from a hobby to an additional career. He enjoyed Minnesota sports, especially the Vikings, Twins and Gophers. He had a love of music and playing the drums in a band, spent time golfing, bowling, and gardening. He and Phyllis enjoyed camping, going to auctions, and being a part of the Prairie Mercantile family. They enjoyed trips out west hunting, attending trapper conventions and doing gun shows. Not a day went by that he wasn’t out cruising the countryside checking on wildlife and seeing the progress of the crops. He will always be remembered as a strong, yet kind, and gentle soul.
He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Kouri, Robyn (Tom) Rolighed, and Becky (Brad) VanBinsbergen. He was the proud grandpa of 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Charles(Lois)Waller, sister-in-law Betty Waller, brother-in-laws Arden (Violet) Berg, and Dale(Marlene)Berg, many special nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents Oscar and Ida Waller, mother and father-in-law Arne and Edith Berg and his son Tommy Waller.
Blessed be his memory.
