Oscar E. Peterson was born on August 13, 1907, in rural Boyd, Minnesota, to Ole M. and Stina (Haakenson) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith and attended school in rural Boyd.
On August 14, 1936, Oscar was united in marriage to Minnie Abramouski.
Oscar spent his life as a carpenter and he also enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Boyd Rod and Gun Club, Senior Citizens Club, and was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Boyd where he was janitor for many years.
In 1976 Oscar was honored as Senior Citizen Of The Year. Oscar, 82, passed away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson, Minnesota on Wednesday, June 6, 1990.
Surviving Oscar are his son, Wayne and wife Judy of Norfolk, Nebraska; daughter, Stina and husband Ron Stone of Paynesville, Minnesota; two sisters, Selma Johnson of Fergus Falls, Minnesota, and Jan Erickson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brother, Art of New Berlin, Wisconsin; Grandchildren, Jon and wife LeAnn Peterson of Oakes, North Dakota, Michele Peterson of Overland Park, Kansas, David Peterson of Oakes, North Dakota, Melissa Peterson of Oakes, North Dakota, Roland and wife Brenda Stone of Montevideo, Minnesota, Randol and wife Rhonda Stone of Denver, Colorado, Alana (Stone) and husband Tim Ratz of Lake Crystal, Minnesota, and Michael James Stone of Enzamur, Turkey; and one great grandson, Dustin Stone of Montevideo, Minnesota.
Preceding Oscar in death were his parents; his wife, Minnie on March 7, 1978; one child, Minerva who died in infancy; three brothers, Henry, Martin, and Melvin; and one sister, Agnes.
