Obituary

On June 23, 2023, Evelyn Irene Walter passed away at the age of 99.

Evelyn “Evie” was born on April 21, 1924, in Boyd, Minnesota to Peter and Alma (Zietlow) Johnson. On February 27, 1944, she married Arnold Arthur Walter. Together they raised four sons: Steven, Stanford, Bruce and Alan, and one daughter, Susan.

She and Arnold farmed together for many years in Yellow Medicine and Lac Qui Parle counties and were longtime members of Zion Lutheran Church in Tyro township.

Evelyn had a passion for red cars, buck euchre, and crossword puzzles. In her 50s she took up motorcycling and obtained her GED.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Alma; husband, Arnold; three sons, Steven, Stanford, and Bruce, and brother, Leroy. She is survived by two children, Susan (Robert) Grigg and Alan (Lori) Walter, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 1:30 PM at the J.H. Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield. Interment to follow in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Tyro Township.
