David Elmer Wiegers

David Elmer Wiegers was born on September 24, 1941 at home on the farm in Omro Township to Elmer and Anna (Munsch) Wiegers. He was baptized at home on October 19, 1941 and confirmed on April 3, 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church—Omro. David graduated from the Clarkfield High School in 1959.

David’s true love in life was farming with and collecting old tractors. Oddly enough, he farmed with Internationals and collected Case tractors. Ever the socialite, and one of the “guys’ guys,” David was a member of the American Legion Post 198 in Boyd after serving in the National Guard, Board Treasurer for Omro Township at one point, and frequent restauranter of both the Boyd Café and Elsie’s Café in Clarkfield with his friends. David loved auctions, garage sales, and ducks—particularly his mom’s home-cooked duck. Little known facts about David include his country-western two-step dancing skills and that he raised rat terrier dogs in his younger years. He was also very fond of attending singles’ dances. Overall, David was a very generous man and made friends in the community everywhere he went.

David died on Friday, October 15th, 2021 at the age of 80 at the care center in Lake City, MN, one month after receiving a cancer diagnosis in September. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Anna, and is survived by many cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 22nd, 2021 from 5-7 PM with a time of sharing beginning at 6:30 PM at the J.H. Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield. Visitation will continue at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Omro on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 at 9 AM, followed by the funeral service at 10 AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.
