Darlene Cusick Obituary

Darlene Cusick, 82, of Goddard, KS passed away peacefully at home January 13, 2020.

A funeral service will be held at Fridhem Cemetary on May 30, 2020 at 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life in the Clarkfield Park.  Arrangements are with JH Lynner Funeral Home, of Clarkfield, MN.

Darlene Mary (Anderson) Cusick was born April 17,1937, the youngest of 3 children to Melvin R. and Gladys Anderson. Darlene attended Boyd Public School, in Boyd, MN, where her mother Gladys was a teacher. Darlene graduated High School in 1955 and went on to nursing school in Minneapolis, MN.

Darlene married in 1956, and her husband’s work took her to many states in the Midwest, where their family expanded along the way. In 1964, Darlene and her family settled on the M.R. Anderson farm near Clarkfield, Minnesota, assisting on her parent’s farm just a mile north of Swede Prairie Township. Darlene enjoyed being close to her parents and raising her five children, Laddy Jr., Kim, Jeff, Mel, and Michelle for many years in the Clarkfield area. Darlene eventually moved to Goddard, KS to live with her mother Gladys, who had moved there after Melvin R. Anderson’s passing. Darlene and her mother Gladys, shared many years together, being the center of a constant stream of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After Gladys’ passing in 2000, Darlene remained in Goddard, KS, and continued to enjoy her love of family, and her many friends. Darlene loved reading, music and attending the Goddard United Methodist Church on a regular basis. Darlene reveled in her firm family value and always most importantly, loved spending time with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her 5 children. Laddy Jr. (Julie) of Mesa AZ, Kim (Rob) Stephen of Wichita KS, Jeff (Maritza) Cusick of Austin TX, Mel Cusick of Goddard KS, and Michelle Cusick of Goddard KS. 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin R. Anderson and Gladys Vik Anderson, brothers, Jerry Anderson and Dale Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with, Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice of Kansas-2872 N. Ridge Rd., 122, Wichita, KS 67205 or c/o Kim Stephen, P.O. Box 75264, Wichita, KS, 67275. The family would like to thank all the Hospice nurses for taking such good care of such a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Best Friend, aiding in her request to remain at home until she passed.
