Bradley Gene Johnson, 69, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at North Memorial Hospital on October 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. An avid Twins fan, Brad hung out long enough to catch one more baseball game with his family and one last win by the Twins - their first playoff victory in 19 years.
Brad was born April 26, 1954, in Clarkfield, MN, to Gene and Elaine (Pieper) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member. He married Susan K. Klancke on September 13, 1980, also at Clarkfield Lutheran.
After graduating from Clarkfield High School in 1972 he attended Canby Vo-Tech for two years. He worked alongside his dad with Johnson Tiling, and eventually bought and took over the family business. It was sold in 2000, and afterwards he worked at Prairie Grain Partners for 11 years before taking an early retirement due to health reasons.
For many years, Brad played softball with numerous teams and was well known for his powerful home run hitting. He had been a long-time member of the Clarkfield Golf League and was a founding member of the Montevideo Snowdrifters where he had once helped with the planning and grooming of the local trails. Nothing gave Brad greater joy than his boys and his grandchildren.
Brad is survived by: his wife, Susan; his sons, David of Cold Spring, MN, Darrin and wife Kelly of Clarkfield, MN, Brent and fiancée Aisha Tarannun of Montclair, NJ; his five grandchildren: Conner, Kash, Arianna, Everett, and Rowan. He is also survived by sisters: Brenda (Paul) Moe of Alexandria, MN, Kristin (Lyle) Boike of Montevideo, MN; siblings-in-law Steven Klancke of Green Isle, MN, Jim (Kim) Klancke of Independence, MN, and Nancy (Jon) Blaeser of Nisswa, MN. Brad is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Elaine, parents-in-law, Lowell and Maeola Klancke, step-mother-in-law, Adeline Klancke, and sister-in-law, Brenda Klancke.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 10th, from 6-8 PM with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:30 PM at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue Wednesday, October 11th at 12:30 PM at the church, followed by the memorial service at 1:30 PM.
