Woodrow Allen Wilson was born December 17, 1922 in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Alden O. and Alice (Anderson) Wilson. On January 14, 1923, he was baptized at Bergen Lutheran Church. He was confirmed on October 18, 1936 and remained a lifetime member of Bergen. Woodrow graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1941. He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946 as a quartermaster on the destroyer Duncan in the South Pacific. On December 14, 1952, he married Betty Schultz of Montevideo, Minnesota. They farmed in Lisbon Township until his retirement in 1983. He was a Lisbon Township officer for many years and served on various church boards. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #559 of Hazel Run. In April of 1995 Woodrow entered the Clarkfield Care Center, where he died on Saturday, January 20, 1996. He had reached the age of 73 years, 1 month, and 3 days. Surviving are his wife Betty, children, Paul (and Deb) Wilson, Pamela Lynner, Colleen (and Mark) Bott, all of Clarkfield, Carol (and Dennis) Londgren of Madison, Minnesota, and Jim (and Cathy) Wilson of New London, Minnesota. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one sister, Jean and brother-in-law Hank Nicklasson of Montevideo. He was preceded in death by his parents.
