Winfred Albin Peterson was born on October 23, 1914, in Swede Prairie Township, to parents Peter and Emma (Swenson) Peterson, the youngest of 14 children. He was baptized and confirmed in the Swede Home Lutheran Church, where he has been an active lifetime member, serving on the church council a number of years. He received his education at Country School District No. 86. Winfred was engaged in farming until his death. On July 5, 1939, he was united in marriage to Iona Coover. To this union, four children were born. He passed away at his home on November 1, 1977, at the age of 63. He leaves as survivors his wife, Iona; two daughters: Carol and husband Harlan Moseng of rural Boyd, and Linda and husband Pat Clark of San Francisco, California; and two sons: LeRoy of Aberdeen, South Dakota, and Dale and wife Teresa of rural Clarkfield; six grandchildren: Bradley, Brenda, Bruce and Brent Moseng and Donny and Michelle Peterson; seven sisters: Bettie (Mrs. Knute Thompson) and Emma (Mrs. Olaf Thompson) of Cottonwood, Esther (Mrs. John Lynner), Anna (Mrs. Roy Hanson) and Hulda (Mrs. Helmer Halvorson) of Clarkfield, and Ethel (Mrs. James Corbett) of Atascadero, California; two brothers: Ludvig of rural Clarkfield and Fredolph of Westminster, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Amalie; and three brothers: Axel, Oscar and Alfred.
