IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Aldis
Tricker
October 24, 1890
William Aldis Tricker, son of William and Elizabeth (Symonds), was born October 24th, 1890, at Virginia Water, Suffolk County, England. He was baptized in infancy in the Episcopalian Church in England. He was reared and educated in England and came to America at the age of 20 years. His first three years in America were spent in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he did cabinet making work. While there, he became affiliated with the Methodist Church, while living in a Methodist pastor's home. In 1917, he was united in marriage with Mary Madge Quirk of Wall Lake, Iowa. Since farming was Mr. Tricker's chosen occupation they started farming near Monterey. They moved to their present home in Friendship Township in March, 1920. The Trickers have five daughters who shared with their versatile father many interesting farm projects. Mr. Tricker being interested in beef cattle raising, maintained an Angus herd for some twenty years, about the length of time that the girls were in active 4-H Club work. These Angus beeves earned the girls Junior Show trips and two State Fair trips. Mr. Tricker was very civic minded, always ready to lend a hand in a worthy cause. He worked very diligently to arouse people to the importance of our county having a County Agent. When this was accomplished, he willingly served on boards and drives to continue the Extension work. He served as director for the Tyro Farm Bureau unit for one year, helped organize the Friendship Unit and served on numerous membership drives every fall. He was on the F.H.A. Board and served as secretary for the Co-op Shipping Association for many years. He also belonged to the Crop Improvement Association and for many years served as Agricultural Statiscian for this district. Mr. Tricker leaves to mourn him his wife, Madge; daughters: Elizabeth (Mrs. Earl Steinman), Dorothy (Mrs. George Phalen), Anita (Mrs. Malcolm McLean), Lillian and Ruth; three grandsons: David, Richard and William; and granddaughter, Kathryn; two brothers: Arthur of Phoenix, Arizona, and Alec of Ipswich, England; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Tricker will be sadly missed by his many friends and colleagues not only in civic work but in the circle of sports, for he loved bowling, fishing and sports of all kinds.
