William Peter West was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of Peter and Selma (Olson) West on January 8, 1906. He was baptized on January 28, 1906, by Pastor J. Salhus and confirmed on May 29, 1921, by Pastor O.T. Storaasli. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Anderson by Pastor Carl E. Anderson at Clarkfield on June 15, 1935. To this union six children were born. It was learned in July, 1958, that William had leukemia. He passed away at the Clarkfield Hospital on December 12, 1958, trusting in Jesus and a heavenly home where all can be together again. At the time of his death, he was 52 years, eleven months and four days. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister and an infant brother. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Lorraine and four sons and two daughters, namely, William Jr., Stuart, Karen, Lyndon, Diane and Brian; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn; one sister, Mrs. Martha Bakken of Sherburn, Minnesota; three brothers: Alfred, Emil and Oscar of Clarkfield.
