William (Bill) Lanners, 91, of St. Leo, Minnesota, passed away at the Canby Community Health Services of Canby, Minnesota, on Monday, October 2, 1989. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Thursday, October 5, 1989, at the St. Leo Catholic Church of St. Leo with Father Robert Mraz officiating. Lector is Margaret Caron. Organist is Donna Fromm. Special music is provided by the St. Leo Catholic Church Choir and a solo by Mary Jo Oldakowski who was accompanied by Brenda Bursack. Burial is in the St. Leo Catholic Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Bill's grandsons: Steven Citterman, Michael Hofmeister, Chad, James, Kevin and William J. Lanners and Gordon Oldakowski. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 1989, at the Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield, Minnesota, and will include an 8:00 p.m. prayer service followed by the rosary. Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at noon on Thursday, October 5, 1989, at the St. Leo Catholic Church. William Nicholas Lanners was born in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on April 4, 1898, one of seven children born to Leonard and Katherine (Roles) Lanners. Bill was baptized and confirmed at the St. Leo Catholic Church. On October 25, 1927, at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Canby, he was united in marriage to Margaret Bach. Bill farmed and lived in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, until he and Margaret moved to St. Leo in 1982. Bill attended St. Leo Parochial School, was a member of the St. Leo Mens Society, the Catholic Aid Association of St. Leo where he was a past president and the School Board and was a Supervisor for Omro Township. Surviving Bill is his wife, Margaret of St. Leo; their ten children, Lawrence and Jane Lanners of St. Leo, Lorraine and Harry Hofmeister of New Ulm, Minnesota, Alfred and Gladys Lanners of Royalton, Minnesota, Dorothy and Robert Oldakowski of Pierz, Minnesota, Joseph and Gloria Lanners of Pierz, Minnesota, Sister Edna Lanners, S.S.N.D. St. Paul, Minnesota, Walter and Diane Lanners of Taunton, Minnesota, Cletus and Joanne Lanners of Minneota, Minnesota, Ruth and Vincent Caron of Litchfield, Minnesota, and Joyce and Raymond Citterman of Ivanhoe, Minnesota; 46 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one brother, John Lanners and one sister, Mary Lanners both of Minneota, Minnesota.
