William Don Bruflat, Jr. was born on August 23, 1929 at Hastings, Minnesota, the son of William Don Bruflat, Sr. and Eleanor (Schneider) Bruflat. The family moved to Granite Falls, Minnesota when he was young. He attended school in Granite Falls, graduating in 1947. He was involved in football, hockey and Boy Scouts during that time. He was in the first State High School Hockey Tournament and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, Bill attended St. Cloud State College for two years. He then moved back to Granite Falls and worked for Grier Plumbing and Heating. He married Donna Mae Beito on April 19, 1950. They moved to Clarkfield and established Bruflat Plumbing and Heating in 1956, where he worked until he retired. Bill was active in community affairs. He served on the Clarkfield City Council, was on the Clarkfield Fire Department for 20 years, serving as Fire Chief for several years, was an officer of West Central Fireman's Association, and was a member of the Clarkfield Sportsman's Club. He also served as a director of the Minnesota Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors Association. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his cabin on Lake Ida. He died Monday, December 3, 2001, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons: Rodney and his wife Barb, children, Todd and Kelly; Tim and his wife Deb, children, Troy, Heidi and Chad; Joe and his wife Lisa, children, Amber, Taylor and Mackenzie all of Clarkfield; one sister, Berdonna Winson of Chanhassen, Minnesota; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his daughter Jill.
