Hartfiel
November 5, 1892 – June 21, 1975
Wilhelm Fredrick Hartfiel, son of Adolph and Emma (Eckhardt) Hartfiel, was born on November 5, 1892, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed by Rev. August Hillger at Zion Lutheran Church, Tyro Township, in 1907. On March 14, 1915, he was united in marriage to Lydia Roeske. Three children were born to this union: Milroy of Clarkfield, Minnesota, DeForest of New Ulm , Minnesota, and Dorothy (Mrs. Erling Haaland) of Starbuck, Minnesota. Bill farmed most of his life in the Clarkfield area. After retirement he and his wife moved to their home in Clarkfield where they resided until Lydia passed away on June 21, 1975. In May, 1976, Bill moved to Brookside Manor, Montevideo, where he lived until his recent illness. Survivors are his three children and their families including 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; four sisters: Clara (Mrs. Carl Just, Sr.) of Willmar, Minnesota, Viola (Mrs. Ed Decker) of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Ursula (Mrs. Paul Just) of Boyd, Minnesota, and Adeline (Mrs. Art Sommerfeld) of Boyd, Minnesota; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia, his parents, two brothers and five sisters. Mr. Hartfiel passed away May 2, 1979, at Luther Haven, Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years.
