Wesley Obed Forbord was born April 5, 1930, the son of Arthur S. and Helen (Wetherell) Forbord, near Hanley Falls, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized May 18, 1930, at Bethlehem Church by Rev. I.O. Mellom. He attended school at Benson, Minnesota, and from there moved to Starbuck with his father. There he enlisted in the Army April 14, 1947, and spent most of this time in the south Pacific. He was discharged January 4, 1950, and re-enlisted November 3, 1950, being sent to Korea in January, 1951. He was killed in action on March 2, 1951, while defending a counter attack at Ami- dong, Korea. He was at his death only 20 years, 9 months and 15 days old. He is survived by his father, Arthur S. Forbord, Sr., now at the Veteran's Hospital in Minneapolis; two brothers: Arthur, Jr., of Clarkfield and David of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; three sisters: Rebecca (Mrs. Albert Stulz) of Moorhead, Minnesota, Bessie (Mrs. Harold Wester) of Benson, Minnesota, and Martha (Mrs. Erling Husby) of Moorhead, Minnesota. His mother and two sisters prededed him in death. Blessed be his memory.
