Wendell Maurice Miller was born on October 23, 1912, to Olaus and Emelia (Harare) Miller in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member. He graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1932. Wendell and Theodora Johnson were married on July 14, 1940, at the parsonage in Cottonwood, Minnesota by Rev. H. J. Madland. Wendell grew up on the Elbow Farm in Normania Township where he farmed with his family until he retired in 1978. He and Theodora then moved to Clarkfield. His interests included sports, fishing, and in his retirement years, a special interest in golf. He was also active throughout his life in support of St. Lucas Church, Farmers Union, and cooperatives. Wendell passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 1993, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo, at the age of 80 years and 11 months. He is survived by his wife: Theodora; his daughter: Ann and husband Larry Stensrud of Clarkfield; his sons: Maury of Forest Lake, Minnesota and Don of Excelsior, Minnesota; and three grandchildren, Kyle and Kirk Stensrud, and Kristen Miller; and his sister: Almira Miller. Preceding Wendell in death were his parents; his sister: Barbara Hull; and his brother, Orley Miller.
