Wanda Loirs Sharkey, 51, died Friday, May 9, 1986, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota, following illness due to cancer. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 12, 1986, at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, with Pastor H. N. Schey officiating. Zee Ann Reishus was the organist with Mavis Ellingson as soloist. Casket Bearers were Calvin Broughton, David Oftedahl, Perry Oftedahl, Glenn Sharkey, Paul Sharkey and Chuck Savoie. Final Resting Place is the East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. She was born April 20, 1935, to Lee and Evelyn (Johnson) Granell at Clarkfield, Minnesota. She graduated there in 1954 and married Bill Sharkey on April 21, 1956. They were married at Highline Methodist Church, Burien, Washington. They had two children, Billy and Jill. She enjoyed many handicrafts and bowling. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary of Hanley Falls and taught Sunday School in her church for many years. She is survived by husband Bill; son Bill and wife Sandy and granddaughter Tanya; and daughter Jill and husband Steve Fry and grandson Stevie, all of Hanley Falls; mother Evelyn of Cottonwood; brothers: Larry of Kentucky and Lee Wayne of Hanley Falls; sisters: Dallas of Richfield, Minnesota, Marilyn of Seattle, Washington, Darlene and Rosalee of Hanley Falls; nieces and nephews.
