Walter Clifford Gustafson was born July 8, 1902, in Hazel Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of John and Emelie (Carlson) Gustafson. Walter met Thelma Renstrom while she was working as a housekeeper for his parents. They were married at Warren, Minnesota, in the 1930s and lived on a farm north of Hanley Falls. They were the parents of two sons: David and Robert. Mr. Gustafson passed away Monday, January 8, 1951, at Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, at the age of 48 years. Survivors include his wife and two sons. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, January 13th, 1951, 2:00 p.m., at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church, Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Rev. G.B.
