Walter Friberg, 80, a life-long resident of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Saturday, December 15, 1984. Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 18, 1984, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Pastor Ralph B. Belin officiating. The organist was Rhoda Nelson with congregational hymns, "Children of the Heavenly Father", "Blest Be the Tie That Binds", "He Leadeth Me", and "Let All Things Now Living." Final Resting Place is the Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery, Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Casket Bearers were Ardine Berkvam, Chester Friberg, Harold Friberg, Richard K. Petersen, Donavon Sturgeon and John W. Sturgeon. He was born March 15, 1904 to Theodore and Jenny (Benson) Friberg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On June 12, 1939, he married Adena Nelson, a local teacher and native of Belview, Minnesota. She preceded him in death in 1970. He retired in 1969 after 46 years as a postal clerk in the Clarkfield Post Office. He served 41 years as a volunteer with the local fire department, was a founding member of the Sportsman's Club, was a member of Sunbeam Lodge and was active in One Fund drives and other community events. He was presently a member of Augustana Lutheran Church. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law Terryl and Peter Anderson of Waterloo, Iowa; grandchildren Jed and Siri; brother Herman of Clarkfield; sisters Ruth Sturgeon of Willmar, Minnesota, Agnes of Clarkfield, Ethel Lee of Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, Alice Jacobson of Foster City, California and Theodora Ree of Milwaukee, Oregon; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, brother Herbert and sister Josie. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
