IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vold Lorraine
M. (Knutson)
June 13, 1934 – March 6, 2016
Lorraine Vold June 13th, 1934 ~ March 6th, 2016 Lorraine Vold, of Clarkfield, died peacefully Sunday, March 6, 2016, at the Clarkfield Care Center after a three -year illness courageously battling cancer at the age of 81. She will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Pastor Ron Hughes will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour before the services on Saturday. Lorraine Margaret (Knutson) Vold was born on June 13, 1934, to Claus and Alice (Peterson) Knutson in Montevideo, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1952. Lorraine was united in marriage to Phillip Vold on June 1, 1958. They made their home in rural Hazel Run where Lorraine was a wife, mother, homemaker, and helped Phillip with the farm. Lorraine and Phillip were named Yellow Medicine County Farm Family of the Year in 1997. Lorraine was an active member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in the many activities of WELCA. Lorraine will be remembered for her many talents. Lorraine's garden was the neighborhood showcase, and the fruits of her garden graced the tables of family and friends for many years. Lorraine was also an amazing cook---everyone knew that when they went to see Mother Lorraine there would be homemade goodies. Lorraine was honored as the Yellow Medicine County Fair "Kitchen Queen" for her ability to bake and make homemade preserves. As facile as she was in the kitchen, she was also a gifted seamstress and spent countless hours sewing clothing for her children and grandchildren. Lorraine was a devoted 4-H leader for over 45 years. During this time, she taught children to sew, cook, give public demonstrations, and was the first one to have her hands dirty when it was time to wash sheep to get ready for the fair. During her illness, Lorraine was the pillar of strength and courage. She fought cancer with the same ambition that she gave to life. Lorraine was thankful for the visits, phone calls, letters, food brought into the house, and prayers. Lorraine was so happy when her health allowed her leave the house to have coffee and visit with friends and family. Lorraine is survived by her husband, Phillip; children: Terrance (Lynn) of Clarkfield, Patricia (David) of San Diego, California, Thomas (Stacey) of Lamberton; grandchildren: Dustin Jones, Skyler, Payton, Kennedy, Quintyn, Hayley, Travis Vold, David and Elina Pepper; siblings: Evelyn (Raymond) Johnson, Ronald (Sharron) Knutson; brother-in-law, Lew (Joyce) Vold; sisters-in-law: Bev Knutson, Margaret Knutson and Kathleen (Kenneth) Jacobson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Marvin and Lowell. We will cherish our memories of Lorraine's strength, her loving kindness, her amazing talents, and her true tenacity even in the face of the most daunting obstacles. Blessed be her memory.
