Vivian Wendschuh, 71, died May 14, 1988 at the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota, following an extended illness. Visitation and a prayer service with the family was May 17, 1988, at the Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield, Minnesota. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 1988, at the St. Lucas Lutheran Church of rural Cottonwood with Pastor John Christianson officiating. Organist was Diane Gregoire. Soloist, Henry Broughton sang "I Look Not Back" and "How Great Thou Art". Congregational Hymns were "He Leadeth Me" and "Lead On O King Eternal". A Personal Message was given by Darla Cady. Final Resting Place was in the St. Lucas Cemetery, Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Mrs. Wendschuh was born in Normania Township of Yellow Medicine County, June 20, 1916, to Knute and Annetta (Miller) Reishus. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Reverends Romstad and Otterstad at St. Lucas. She graduated from Cottonwood High School in 1935. After high school, Vivian attended Commercial College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, taking secretarial courses; it was during this time she contracted multiple sclerosis. Vivian worked at Ristvedt's store in Cottonwood. In 1941 she was offered a job with F.S.A., a government agency, and traveled extensively throughout the state. On September 15, 1946, she and Kurt E. Wendschuh were married at St. Lucas and she became a full time farmer's wife. Three children were born to this union. Vivian was a life time member of St. Lucas Church. She enjoyed music and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a member of local homemaker clubs and the St. Lucas A.L.C.W. She had been a junior youth leader in Farmers Union. She had also been a board member of the Cottonwood Mealsite program since its inception. Following the death of her husband, Vivian moved to the West Prairie Apartments in Cottonwood. She remained there until March, 1988 when her declining health forced her to move to the Clarkfield Care Center. Survivors include a son, Dean Wendschuh of rural Cottonwood; daughters Gayle Regnier of Marshall and Darla Cady of Gillette, Wyoming; brothers Martin of Cottonwood, Franklin of Rapid City, South Dakota and Stanley of Mesa, Arizona; sister Myrtle Olson of Cottonwood; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and six brothers. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
