On October 12, 1931, Virgil Edward Lettau was born to Edward and Emma Lettau at Havelock Township of Chippewa County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Havelock Township. He graduated from Maynard High School. On July 8, 1953, Virgil married Esther Seeman at Trinity Lutheran Church, Havelock Township. He was drafted into the Army and fought in the Korean War from February 1953 to November 1954. During the early part of his life he farmed in the Maynard, Minnesota area. In 1966 the family moved to Clarkfield, where he continued in farm employment until 1973. It was then that Virgil persued other areas of employment. In 1982 Virgil discovered he had heart problems and battled with it until November 25, 1984, when he passed away at the Clarkfield Memorial Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Esther; son, Mike and Karen Lettau and sons Jason and Shaun of Montevideo, Minnesota; son, Bruce of Clarkfield; daughter, Sandy and Greg Koepp and sons Joshua and Joel of Boyd, Minnesota; and daughter, Barb and Eloit Willander and son Aaron of Crystal, Minnesota. He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Emma Lettau; and sisters Mrs. Ray (Vernice) Stegeman and Mrs. Clyde (Verna Jean) Eisenlohr, all of Montevideo. Preceding him in death were his father, Edward, and a daughter in infancy. Blessed be his memory!
