Virgil G. Jensen was born to parents George and Clara (Thompson) Jensen on October 10, 1921, in Rozet, Wyoming. He was baptized in the Methodist faith. Virgil attended school in Iowa and enjoyed playing basketball. The family moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, in 1941 and lived on their farm two miles east of Clarkfield. Virgil served in the Army Air Force from October 1942 until February of 1946. (He was awarded the 50 year membership with the American Legion.) He then returned to the family farm, first helping out at home and then working for other farmers. He watched over his brother, Fred, his entire life. Virgil was in the VA Hospital for some time and then entered the Clarkfield Care Center in 1995. He was a resident there at the time of his death. He passed away on Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Care Center at the age of 85 years, 10 months, and 6 days. He is survived by his brother Fred, a resident of the Care Center, brother Alfred (and Donna) of International Falls, Minnesota, sister Erma Olson of Everette, Washington, and sister Esther (and Curtis) Hanson of Montevideo, Minnesota. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Thelma Kluckman, brother Fayette Jensen and wife Betty, brother-in-law Elvern Olson, niece Kay Dack, and nephews Tim Jensen and Kevin Olson.
