Viola Julliette Sharkey was born November 30, 1906, on a farm in Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, to Carl J. and Mollie (Anderson) Reimstad. She was united in marriage to Harland Sharkey on April 11, 1928, by Rev. Otterstad at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota. She lived all her married life in the Hanley Falls community with the exception of nine years, when the family lived at Lynd, Minnesota, between 1935-1945. She was baptized January 2, 1907, by Rev. Martin Romstad at St. Lucas congregation and confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood by Rev. Otterstad in 1921. Mrs. Sharkey passed away December 8, 1962, at the Granite Falls Hospital, after being a patient there eight days. She is survived by her husband, Harland; two sons, Harold of Hanley Falls and William Carl of Clarkfield; five grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Mollie Reimstad; and her sister, Mrs. Alvin Broughton, both of Osage, Minnesota.
