Obituary

Vina Mae Long was born July 7, 1904, in Galva, Illinois, to Eric and Cora (Chillberg) Granell. They moved to Minnesota when she was an infant. Baptized and confirmed by Rev. Alf Jorgenson, she was married to Orville Long on August 9, 1924. To this union seven children were born: Orvella (Mrs. Gordon Johnson) of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Darris of Moorhead, Minnesota, Bonnie (Mrs. Luverne Dyrdahl) of Hazel Run, Wanda (Mrs. William Bailie) of Moorhead, Minnesota, Darrell of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Beverly (Mrs. Donald Thostenson) of Babbitt, Minnesota, and Dennis of Clarkfield, Minnesota. They were engaged in farming until 1952 when they moved to Hazel Run where they operated the Cafe. After almost 22 years in the cafe business, she retired in the fall of 1973 and moved to the Valhalla Apartments in Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband Orville; her parents; her brother Lee Granell; and grandchildren: Brian Johnson, Kenneth Dyrdahl, and Leslie Ann Thostenson. She is survived by her seven children; 24 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters: Mrs. Murel Hoffstatter, Mrs. Florence Jannick, Glen Granell, Lester Granell, Mrs. Edna Blodgett, Mrs. Helen Green, Donald Granell, and Mrs. Marvis McMillan, all of Illinois.
