Verner David
Rodness
January 27, 1917 – March 20, 1992
Verner David Rodness was born January 27, 1917, in Minneapolis to Charles and Ida Trayer Cassel. He became a foster child of Anna and Peter Rodness at the age of one year. He was baptized March 24, 1918, in the Lutheran church. He attended Clarkfield schools. In 1932 Verner was confirmed at Augustana Lutheran Church. On November 11, 1942, he joined the military service, and on March 25, 1946, he was honorably discharged. He served as a farm hand doing many different jobs. Verner died on March 20, 1992, at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Dawson at the age of 75. Verner was preceded in death by his foster parents and foster brother Clarence Rodness. He is survived by his foster sister-in-law, Mrs. Clarence Rodness, her daughter Avis Tate and son Roger Rodness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 25, 1992, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lynner Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Mesner officiating. Music was by Merril Womach. Casket bearers were members of the Oien-Horgen American Legion Post #198 of Boyd. Military Rites: Oien-Horgen American Legion Post #198, Boyd, Minnesota Burial was at the Fridhem Cemetery of Tyro Township, Minnesota.
