Vernel Jerome Hermanson April 10, 1936 ~ November 23, 2014 Vernel Jerome Hermanson, age 78, of Boyd, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014. Vernel was born on April 10, 1936, to Durven and Minnie (Refseth) Hermanson in Clarkfield, Minnesota. He graduated from Boyd High School in 1955 and from the School of Agriculture, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1957. He married Janice Moen on February 21, 1959, and had three sons. Vernel was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota. He served on the Trustee board and was a Sunday School Teacher. He farmed in the Boyd area for 50 years, growing crops and raising hogs and cattle, always driving John Deere equipment and Ford vehicles. He was an avid Vikings football fan, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going to the cabin, taking in the grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Durven and Minnie Hermanson, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Myrtle Moen, and his brother Donald Hermanson. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice Mae Hermanson; his sons: Daryl (Missy) Hermanson, Michael Hermanson, Dan (Kristie) Hermanson; and his grandchildren: Trevor Hermanson, Tyler (Abby) Hermanson, Tanner, Ryan and Karly Hermanson.
