Vera (Engels) Williams July 9, 1924 ~ May 6, 2015 Vera Williams was born at Marshall, Minnesota, on July 9, 1924, to parents August and Bertha Clara (DeVos) Engels. Her given name was Esther Alvera Engels. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent, Minnesota. She attended country school, Holy Redeemer Grade School and graduated from Marshall High School. She attended business college for one year. Vera and Donavon Williams were married on June 24, 1944, at St. Eloi Catholic Church. They lived in Minneapolis for two years, moved to a farm near Ghent for six years and then moved to their farm east of Clarkfield, where they resided for 27 years. They were the parents of three sons: Tom, Steve and James. Vera and Donavon moved to Clarkfield in 1979. Donavon passed away in 2005. Vera remained in her home until April 27, 2015. Vera was a Nurses Aid for many years at the Care Center. She enjoyed Sewing Club, bingo, bunko, playing cards and being with family and friends. She passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 27 days. She is survived by her sons: Tom (Lue) of Crystal, Minnesota, Steve of Henderson, Nevada, and Jim (Pam) of Clarkfield. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Todd, Sara, Mike, Laura, Matt and T.J.; ten great grandchildren: Hogan and Hannah Williams, Rose, August, and Harvey Mousel, Grace, Jacob and Eva Williams, Elle Aho and Hallie Williams; and sister, Marion (John) Canton of Tuscon, Arizona.
