Velmin Neman Larson was born December 24, 1915, one of 12 children, to C. Axel and Emma Larson in Tyro Township. He was baptized at Spring Creek Lutheran Church and confirmed at Israel Lutheran Church in Swede Prairie Township. He attended School District #29. On April 3, 1937, he married Amy Nyland at Hazel Run, Minnesota. To this union four children were born: Arlene (Mrs. Ardell) Benson, Clarkfield, Minnesota, Verda (Mrs. Earl) Carlson, Dawson, Minnesota, Dennis (wife Maren), Marshall, Minnesota, and Jeanie (Mrs. Michael) Anderson, Clarkfield, Minnesota. Velmin was engaged in farming most of his life. He drove school bus for Clarkfield School for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing, horseshoe, hunting, and loved watching a variety of sports. He was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church for many years and served on the church board. He was known for his love of family and his great sense of humor. Velmin, 76, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 1992, at his home after a lingering illness. He leaves to mourn his wife and children; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Olaf of Clarkfield; four sisters, Edith Berg, Gladys Soppeland, Dorothy (Mrs. Merle) Nikolaisen, all of Clarkfield and Grace Anderson of Willmar, Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Timothy Reynolds and Jason Anderson; two brothers, Lloyd and Emil; and four sisters, Ellen Hanson, Ruth Nelson, Ruby Gordon and Esther Kompelien.
