IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Valborg Josephine
(Noren) Gustavson
November 1, 1905 – January 2, 1985
Valborg Josephine Noren was born November 1, 1905, at rural Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was the younger of two children born to John and Augusta (Peterson) Noren. She was baptized on December 31, 1905, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Boyd, Minnesota, by Pastor Reinerston and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran by Pastor E. C. Bid. She spent her childhood years on the family farm east of Boyd. She attended Country School District 90. Valborg was active in the 4-H, where she attended the County and State Fair with many of her activities, especially her canning. On June 23, 1929, she was united in marriage to Oscar Gustavson. They lived and farmed the family farm until 1951. Three children were born to Oscar and Valborg: Muriel, Walter, and Floyd. In 1951, they retired from farming and moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, where they resided until 1958. At that time, they moved to a farm northwest of Boyd for the following six years. In 1963, they built a new home on their farm northwest of Clarkfield and there they lived for many years. Valborg was very active in the Clarkfield United Methodist Church. She enjoyed being involved with the Boyd Senior Citizens and working in her garden. Oscar passed away on January 2, 1985, and Valborg continued to live on their farm until 1990, at which time she moved into Boyd. Valborg remained in Boyd until 1999, at which time physical disability caused her to move to the Foley Nursing Center, Foley, Minnesota. Valborg passed away at the Nursing Center on Sunday, November 13, 2005, at the age of 100 years and 12 days. She leaves a family of her children: Muriel (and Norman) Andrews of Fillmore, California, and sons, Walter of Becker, Minnesota, and Floyd (and Muriel) of Ramsey, Minnesota; and five grandchildren, Grai Andreason, Greg Andrews, Noreen (Andrews) Monroe, Gene Gustavson, and Erica Thiel; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Augusta; an uncle Charles Noren; her brother George; and husband, Oscar. She is remembered in the local area for her many good deeds. Blessed be her memory.
