Tredella Leona Richter, 76, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, passed away November 24, 1983, at Clarkfield Memorial Hospital. Tredella Leona Myhre was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on February 17, 1907. Leona, the eldest daughter of Albert and Bergette Myhre, was baptized by Rev. Salhus. Leona attended country school District #23 and Dawson normal School. In 1922, she was confirmed in Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Rev. Storslie. Leona completed her high school education at Clarkfield, Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1926. A gifted pianist, Leona began her musical training at the age of three. She furthered her studies with H.A. Worth and began teaching piano at the age of sixteen. After high school, she attended the Chicago Conservatory of Music for three years, studied dramatic art at Northwest College of Speech Arts and sang with the Metropolitan Civic Opera Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1936, Leona moved to Seattle, Washington where she taught piano and voice. Leona married Fritz Richter on January 19, 1942. She and her in family returned to the Spring Creek community in 1946, where she served as organist for the Spring Creek Lutheran Church and taught music in Clarkfield, Montevideo, and Granite Falls. She is preceded in death by her husband, Fritz and her brother Harold. She is survived by her son, Franz Allbert Richter of Clarkfield, Minnesota; one daughter Mrs. Charles (Betty Gertrude) Ostlie and their children, Joy and Jared, of Temuco, Chile; one sister, Evangeline Churness of Long Beach, California; a nephew, David Churness, San Pedro, California; and a niece, Marian Salvage, Irvine, California. Leona, a woman of quick wit, who delighted in the arts and her Norwegian heritage, enjoyed teaching and performing before the public. She will be remembered for her talent and her contribution in music to all who knew her.
