Tom Falkum was born February 29, 1884, in Skien, Norway, the son of Lars and Kerstine (Torgerson) Falkum. He was called to his heavenly home March 11, 1958, being 74 years and 11 days of age. He came from Norway in 1902 at the age of 18 years and spent his entire life in the Clarkfield community. He was engaged in farming until his higher calling. On February 17, 1909, he was united in marriage to Florence Diggins. Five children were born to this union, namely, Raymond and Melvin of Clarkfield, Gladys (Mrs. William McLean) of Clayton, Wisconsin, Ethel (Mrs. Jesse Willander) of Clarkfield and Marjorie (Mrs. Philip Kvistad) of Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was a member of the Clarkfield Gospel Tabernacle. Although he was of a quiet nature, he was an ardent Christian. He accepted the Lord as his personal Saviour in 1935 and followed the Lord in Water Baptism. Mourning his departure are his widow; five children; twelve grandchldren; one daughter-in-law; three sons-in-law; two sisters: Hilda of Henning, Minnesota, and Lydia of Hershey, Michigan; two brothers: John of Clarkfield and Chris of Chicago, Illinois; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
