Mrs. Tobina Olson was born November 1, 1880, at Soggenddahl, Norway, to Andreas and Ingeborg Barstad. At the age of 18 years, she came to Sioux Rapids, Iowa. On April 3rd, 1901, she was united in marriage to Olaf Olson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa. They lived there until 1913 when they moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota, where they were living at the time of her death. She passed away from a heart attack on July 17th, 1953, at the age of 72 years, eight months and 16 days. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and had received her WMF Life Membership pin from the ladies aid. Eleven children were born to this union, one son died in infancy and two sons passed away later on in life: Gilford in 1950 and Oscar in 1951. Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband, eight children: Andrew, Omer, Alice (Mrs. Lewis Ketelsen), and Ruth (Mrs. Louis Enevoldsen) of Montevideo, Minnesota, Julius of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Albert and Lars of Williams, Minnesota, and Carl of Eagle Bend, Minnesota; 34 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Olson was a woman of simple taste. She was a devoted mother, her happiness being in her family's well-being. A thoughtful neighbor and friend, she was a sincere Christian and was glad to bear witness of Jesus Christ, her Savior. Her devotion to her church and home may well be an inspiration to all, and with what undaunted courage she faced life's problems, even when sickness and pain came to be her daily companions, she would not surrender, but continued to walk the highway of faith that leads to everlasting life.
