Tillie E. (Sabe) Enstad (February 23, 1914 ~ February 24, 2011) Tillie Eleanor Enstad was born February 23, 1914, in Swede Prairie Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents Heine and Susie (Eide Nelsen) Sabe. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Israel Lutheran Church. She attended country school through the eighth grade. Tillie worked as a hired girl for neighbors and friends in the area where they lived. Tillie married Carl Enstad on May 21, 1945. They lived and farmed in Yellow Medicine County all their lives. She raised, cleaned and sold chickens for many years. Tillie loved to quilt and made many quilts for WELCA of Bergen Lutheran Church. She was involved in Circle and Homemakers Club. She loved to visit with friends and family. She was a resident at the Valhalla Apartments and then the Clarkfield Care Center for many years. Tillie passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011, at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 97 years. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Velde of Granite Falls, Minnesota; grandson Michael Velde of Sartel, Minnesota; granddaughter Deborah Velde of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl, who passed away on February 24, 1989; son Terry in 2005; infant daughter Susan Marie; brothers: Anton and Harold; and sisters: Anna Applewick and Hazel Friberg.
