Tilfred Donovan Bue was born April 25, 1925, in Clarkfield, Minnesota, to Tillman and Jeanette (Droen) Bue. He was baptized at Clarkfield Lutheran Church by Pastor O.M. Wee and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church by Pastor O.H. Sletten in Minneapolis. He attended school at Clarkfield through 3rd grade then moved to Minneapolis with his mother and sister where he graduated from Patrick Henry High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served from December 1943 to April 1946, spending much of this time in the South Pacific area during World War II. He attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis with the class of 1950. He was united in marriage to Eunice Freer on August 26, 1950, at the Opstead Baptist Church at Isle, Minnesota. He was employed at General Electric Company in Minneapolis until they moved to Clarkfield in 1952, at which time he worked at the Clarkfield Elevator for eight years. Tilfred and Eunice purchased the Droen family homestead in Lisbon Township where he had spent summers assisting his uncle, Andrew Droen, with farming. He was active in farming until November of 1992. Tilfred had a lifelong interest in sports and participated in High School and College football, wrestling, hockey, and softball. He was instrumental in starting the wrestling program at Augsburg College. He also loved fishing and bowling and in his later years, traveling. He was a member of J. Ben Johnson Legion Post #169, Clarkfield, and had served as Adjutant. Tilfred died of cancer on January 8, 1993, at the age of 67 years, at his home in rural Clarkfield. He is survived by his wife, Eunice and six daughters and two sons and their spouses: Wendy and Paul Kimmer, Long Lake, Minnesota, Beverly and Charles Derscheid, Farmington, Minnesota, Phyllis and Gregory Moss, Cypress California, Kathy Bue and fiancee Ralph Edwardson, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kristy and Larry Tanhoff, Montevideo, Minnesota, Wade and Ruth Bue, Rossmoor, California, Joel Bue, Hopkins, Minnesota, Jody Bue, Brookings, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Burton Baker, Minneapolis; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette and Tillman Bue. Funeral Service: January 12, 1993, 2:00 p.m., Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota Officiant: Pastor Iler P.
