Thorvald Herbert Nodshilder was born November 12, 1932, to Helmer and Clara (Jorgenson) Nodshilder in Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith. As a young man he confirmed his vows at the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Attending school in Clarkfield, Thorvald graduated in 1951, after which he worked in Janesville, Wisconsin, for a year. On January 30, 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, leaving from Minneapolis. He served in Colorado as an Airman 3rd Class and was released on February 29, 1956. At this time he helped his uncle, Anton Jurgenson on the home farm. He also worked with tiling and at Swifts in Montevideo. Later he bought his home in Boyd where he lived until he became ill. He was taken to the Montevideo Hospital where he passed away June 28, 1978, at the age of 45 years. He was preceded in death by his father Helmer. Survivors include his mother, Clara Ecklund, and his sister, Helen Bode.
