In 1889 he immigrated to America and came directly to Clarkfield where his aunt, Mrs. Gunhild Dahl resided. He was married to Miss Helene Emily Monson in 1897. To this marriage were born three children, namely, Myrtle (Mrs. Jergon Maursetter), Olymphia (Mrs. Ralph Boss), and Elaster Moen. After her death in March, 1907, he was again married to Miss Caroline Rexstad, in 1909. To this union, Eleanor (Mrs. R.E. Maursetter) was born. Mr. Moen clerked in Monson's Store, also bought cattle for a while. He lived in Marshall County long enough to entitle him to a land claim of 160 acres. He has however resided at the present home where he was engaged in farming, since about 1902. Mr. Moen has enjoyed unusually good health most of his life. After two weeks of illness, he passed away at his home August 13, 1956, on his 90th birthday.
