Thorfin William Anderson was born September 3, 1894, in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the oldest child of Oscar T. Anderson and his wife Elizabeth (Hoiland) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and at the time of his death was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Most of his adult life he spent in the grocery business and a few years in farming, mainly in the Clarkfield area. He served his country in World War I. For the last years he made his home in Clarkfield where he enjoyed the fellowship of neighbors and friends. He had been in failing health for the past year and entered the Clarkfield Care Center the first of the year where he remained until he entered the Clarkfield Hospital. He passed away Monday, January 22, 1973, at the Clarkfield Hospital, where he had been a patient since January 10, 1973. Thorfin was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Thorval, Gilford, Emery and Alton; two sisters: an infant sister and Agnes. Surviving are three sisters and one brother: Elnora (Mrs. Oscar Iverson) of Willmar, Minnesota, Esther (Mrs. Arden Lynne, Sr.) of Clarkfield, Ralph Anderson and Agnes Anderson of Minneapolis; 15 nieces and nephews; and 37 grand nieces and nephews.
