Thomas Keith Thompson was born January 25, 1948, in Clarkfield, Minnesota to Oluf and Emma (Peterson) Thompson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He attended the public schools in Minneota, Minnesota, and Canby Vocational-Technical Institute, Canby, Minnesota. He married Linda Lozenski in Minneota on August 19, 1967. God blessed this union of marriage with three children, Shelly, James and Nathan. Thomas farmed in Westerheim Township in Lyon County before moving to Marshall where he assisted with the operation of the Village Park mobile home court. He joined the Marshall Police Reserve, and became involved with full-time law enforcement work in the early 1970s. He worked for the Marshall Police Department, eventually becoming a detective. He later began working for the Lyon County Sheriff's Department, where he had been employed for nearly three years. He was the instructor for the fire arms safety classes in Marshall for many years. He was a member of the Southwest Police and Peace Officers Association, Delta Lodge No. 119, the Marshall chapter, the Marshall Commandery and the Marshall Shrine Club. Tom died Saturday, August 21, 1981, from a cerebral hemorrhage at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Survivors include his wife; three children, Shelly, James and Nathan, all of Marshall; his mother; five sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Viola) Neuman of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Mrs. Harvey (Doris) Stenerson of Russell, Minnesota, Mrs. Richard (Arline) Garry and Mrs. Douglas (Beverly) Anderson, both of Edina, Minnesota, and Mrs. Darrell (Ruth) Young of Burnsville, Minnesota; and three brothers, Victor of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Virgil and Franklin of Cottonwood, Minnesota.
