Theressa (Johnson) Knutson (February 10, 1918 ~ October 11, 2012) Theressa Knutson of Dawson, Minnesota, and formerly of Boyd passed away at the Johnson Memorial Care Center on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at 9:30 p.m. as a result of heart failure at the age of 94. At the Care Center, Theressa had Bible study and prayed with the residents and friends showing her love for the Lord. Theressa was born on February 10, 1918, to Reuben and Ida (Anderson) Johnson of Dawson. She was baptized and confirmed in Providence Valley Lutheran Church, Dawson, and lived on a farm in Maxwell Township while attending school in rural School District 72. Theressa was married to Merril Knutson on March 23, 1941, at the Providence Valley Parsonage by Rev. Emil Bergson. They farmed in Providence Township for seven years. In 1948, Merril and Theressa purchased the Implement and Hardware Business in Boyd. They retired from their business in 1994. They joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, Minnesota. Theressa was an active member teaching Sunday School, serving as President and as Secretary of the Women's Organization and was President and Treasurer of the Church Council. Theressa was preceded in death by brother, Roger Johnson; sister-in-law, Marian Johnson; and husband, Merril (2002). She is survived by her brother, Paul Johnson of Dawson, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Vandora Davis of Annandale, Minnesota; three children: Bonnita Knutson of Dawson, Minnesota, Kathryn (Mark) Knutson of San Antonio, Texas, and Dale Knutson of Marshall, Minnesota; and four grandchildren with seven great grandchildren.
