Theodore Russell Halverson was born June 14, 1905 in Hazel Run Township to Ellef and Ingeborg (Davidson) Halvorson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Hazel Run Lutheran Church. Russell attended Norwegian School and Public School in Hazel Run Township. Russell and Ruby Dyrdahl were united in marriage on April 4, 1937 at the Hazel Run parsonage. They farmed in Hazel Run Township all their life and retired and moved to Granite Falls in 1969. Russie was interested in his home, his family, and his friends. He was an active member of the Hazel Run Lutheran Church and community. Russie served as a Trustee, Deacon, Usher, and Treasurer of the Cemetery Perpetual Care Trust Fund. He also served on the Hazel Run Township Board, the Granite Falls Shipping Association Board, the Tri County Oil Board, and from 1949-1979 he served on the Hanley Falls Elevator Board. Russie passed away near Hazel Run on Sunday morning, November 16, 1997 at the age of 92 years, 5 months, and two days. He is survived by his wife, Ruby, of Granite Falls; son Terry (and Linda) and granddaughter Rachel of Avon, Colorado and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three infant sons, his parents, nine sisters and brothers and two nieces and five nephews.
