Obituary

Theodore R. Norgard, 79, passed away at the Christian Nursing Center in Willmar, Minnesota, on July 27, 1989. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 1989 from the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, Minnesota, with Pastor Larry Olson officiating. Organist was Zee Ann Reishus. Soloist was Mavis Ellingson. "In The Garden" "How Great Thou Art" Congregational Hymns were: "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" Pallbearers were Don Anderson, Billy Busack, Stanley Engel, David and Tom Idso and Clarence Oftedahl. His final resting place is the East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery, Hanley Falls, Minnesota. Ted was born on October 2, 1909, in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to Edwin and Josephine (Larson) Norgard. He was baptized on February 23, 1910 at the Yellow Medicine Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. He was confirmed by Rev. Ole Lokensgard on August 3, 1924. He was a lifetime member of the church. He graduated from Hanley Falls High School and had a Plumbing and Heating business in Hanley Falls for many years. He served the area well and went out at various times of the day and night to help area residents with heating and plumbing problems. On September 20, 1941, he and Margaret Anderson were married at the Silo Lutheran Parsonage in Cottonwood, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army in Hawaii during World War II, was a one-time mayor of Hanley Falls, a member of the Hanley Falls Fire Department and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Margaret of Hanley Falls and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Edwin, Harold and Wallace. Ted battled cancer for the past two years and tried to keep a sense of humor up to the last. He loved to talk and visit with people, but the last few months was unable to talk.
