Mr. Theodore Leppke was born September 30, 1868, in the Province of Posen, Germany. As a child of five years, he lost his father and at the age of 12, his mother passed away. He was baptized and confirmed in Germany. At the age of 19, in 1888, he immigrated to America and settled at Wecata, South Dakota, where two of his brothers were living. On March 16, 1892, he was joined in holy matrimony with Emma Kropp. In 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Leppke moved to Maxwell Township, Lac qui Parle County, Minnesota, where they farmed until 1920, when they retired and moved to Boyd, Minnesota. After the death of his wife in 1944, he returned to his farm home to live with his daughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Helmer Voss. His health has been gradually failing the last two years and on Monday afternoon, August 20, 1956, his earthly pilgrimage ended. He reached the age of 87 years, ten months and twenty days. Remaining to mourn his departure are his three daughters: Miss Helen Leppke of Minneapolis, Minnie (Mrs. Helmer Voss) of Boyd, Louise (Mrs. Orley Mevins) of Canby, Minnesota; also six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Ewald Westphal of Montevideo, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Fred H. Leppke; two brothers: Robert and Herman Leppke.
