IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Theodore Mathias
Larson
February 24, 1877 – September 24, 1950
Theodore Mathias Larson was born February 24, 1877, in Sweden, the son of Gust and Mary (Johansdatter) Larson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and attended school in his homeland. At the age of 11 years he came to the United States with his father in the spring of 1888, residing for a time with his uncle, Charley Hellzen, near Clarkfield. After coming to this country, Theodore attended country and parochial school, and later was confirmed by Rev. Bengtson in Fridhem Church of Tyro Township. A few years later he moved to Jasper, Minnesota, where both his parents were now located. He worked at various jobs, as a farmhand, as a stone quarry man, section hand, grain elevator and photo gallery. He was married to Anne Christine Dotseth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dotseth, in 1903, the ceremony taking place in the Spring Creek Church. One son, Wallace blessed this marriage. Not long after their wedding the young couple moved back to the Clarkfield community and engaged in farming. The Larsons joined the Spring Creek congregation, Mr. Larson acting as janitor for nine years. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand, a kind neighbor, loving husband and father. He enjoyed good health until a few years ago when he suffered a hip injury in a fall. This seemed to develop into the ailment which finally laid him low. Taken seriously ill on Sunday, September 24, 1950, he passed away the following Saturday, at his Normania Township home, at the age of 69 years. Left to mourn are his wife; his son, Wallace and wife; one sister, Mrs. Tilda Foss of Jasper, Minnesota; two brothers: C.A. Larson of Clarkfield, and N.V. Larson of DeSmet, South Dakota; besides many cousins, nieces and nephews.
