Obituary

Thelma Leona (Christianson) Stokke was born September 28, 1912 in rural Cottonwood, MN to parents Alfred and Thea (Anderson) Christiansen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith and attended rural school in Normania Township and Clarkfield Schools. She and Harry Oliver Stokke were married on December 10, 1933 in Cottonwood, MN. They lived in rural Mapleton for a time then moved back to rural Cottonwood until 1939. From there they moved to rural Clarkfieid and farmed for many years. They moved to the Clarkview Apartments in Clarkfield in May of 1994. She was a member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and was active in the church circle. She always enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing, and visiting with her friends and family. Thelma passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 1997 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 11 days. She is survived by her husband, Harry, of Clarkfield and children: Elaine (and Chuck) Boroughs of Bremerton, WA; Janice (and Bob) Mensink of Bloomington, MN; Richard (and Sue) of Deephaven, MN; Don (and Nona) of Marshall, MN; and Linda (and Dick) Hagen of Alberta, MN. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Thelma and Harry provided a home many years for their neice Karla (Stokke) Van Moorlehem of Morris, MN and nephew, Larry Stokke. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Clarence Christiansen; and nephew, Larry Stokke.
