Tarald Norgaard was born November 23, 1877, at Kviteseid, Telemarken, Norway, the son of Olaf and Gro (Twedt) Norgaard. There he was baptized and confirmed in the State Church of Norway. When he was nineteen years old he came to America, coming directly to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He worked for a few years at Echo and in 1912 started farming in the Hazel Run community. On January 31, 1917, he was united in marriage with Gudvel Lundeberg by Rev. Knute Lundeberg, uncle of the bride. This union was blessed with two children. Mr. Norgaard died suddenly, December 30, 1949, at the age of 62 years, in Hazel Run Township. He is survived by his wife; one son, Samuel; one daughter-in-law, Lois; one sister, Hege of Minneapolis; two brothers: Hans of Granite Falls, and Mikkel of Norway; two grandchildren: Joan and Loren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Edna, and one brother, Endre. Mr. Norgaard was a very kind and faithful husband and father, and loyal to friends, church and community. His God and church were dear to him. He served his church faithfully as a trustee for several terms and in other capacities. He will be greatly missed by his family and all the people of the community.
