Obituary

Tamara Lynn Stensrud was born July 3, 1966, in Ramsey County, Minnesota. On January 27, 1967, at the age of 6 and 3/4 months, she became a family member of Donovan and Shirley Stensrud. She was welcomed by three brothers: Brad, Brian, and Tim. She was baptized on February 19, 1967, at St. Lucas Lutheran Church of rural Cottonwood, Minnesota, by Rev. Morten Engelstad. Tamara attended Sibley School of Montevideo, Minnesota, in the Headstart Program from March to May of 1970. She also attended Clarkfield and Sacred Heart Schools. Tammy was placed to Mount Olivet Rolling Acres on June 17, 1974. She was admitted to the Willmar State Hospital on August 6, 1982. She moved to a Group Home in New London, Minnesota, while at Willmar and then to other Group Homes. She also went to school and put her required school hours in and she received her Diploma from Willmar High School on May 28, 1987. Tamara moved to the (ICFMR) Dawson Group Home on July 23, 1990. She passed away peacefully at the home on Monday morning, January 13, 2003, at the age of 36 years, 6 months and 10 days. She is survived by her parents, Donovan and Shirley Stensrud of Cottonwood, Minnesota; and her brothers: Brad (and Cheryl) Stensrud of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Brian (and Lyn) Stensrud of Isle, Minnesota, and Tim (and Julie) Stensrud of Dawson, Minnesota. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Jessica, Jamie and Jody Stensrud, Jessie (Brian) Stensrud and Jessica Olson, and Jason, Joshua and Elsie Stensrud; step-grandmother Betty Stensrud of Marshall, Minnesota; aunts; uncles; and cousins; plus her friends and staff at her home in Dawson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Marvin and Beatrice Stensrud and Richard and Anna Wolf and uncle Darold G. Stensrud. Tammy loved her brothers! She loved to tease them, ride the three-wheeler and motorcycle with them. She loved the lawn mower and enjoyed swinging. One of her favorite things was treats from the Dairy Queen. She will be missed by her family and her special family at Dawson. Blessed be her memory.
