Sylvin Clarence Johnson was born on September 25, 1895, at Granite Falls, Minnesota, to parents Gabriel and Sophie (Mikelson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Granite Falls. He was united in marriage to Olga M. Solem on May 3, 1930, at their present farm home in Stony Run Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Two children were born: Shirley, living at home with her mother, and Darold of Coon Rapids, Minnesota. Sylvin farmed for most of his life, always in this community. He passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 1975, at his farm home. Survivors besides his family include one brother, Alfred of Echo, Minnesota; one grandchild, Michele; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; seven brothers: Melvin, Charlie, William, George, Arnold, Arthur, and Otto; three sisters: Clara (Mrs. Frank Syring), Mabel (Mrs. Ben Syring), and Esther (Mrs. Norval Peterson).
