Sylvia Annette (Skalbeck) Eye was born on June 30, 1921 in Hawk Creek township, Sacred Heart, Minnesota to Oscar and Sophie (Rude) Skalbeck. She was baptized in that same year at First English Lutheran Church of Sacred Heart by I.O. Melom. She was confirmed on June 9, 1935. She married Everett Eye on January 2, 1944 at First English Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart also by I.O. Melom. After marrying Everett she became a member of Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls, MN. Sylvia died December 8, 1998 at the Granite Falls Municipal Hospital at the 77 years of age. She is survived by her husband Everett S. Eye of Hanley Falls; daughter Jane Kjos and her husband Jack of Benson; son DeWayne Eye of Hanley Falls; grandchildren Dr. Heidi Kjos of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Andrew Kjos at Penn State in Pennsylvania; sister-in-laws: Adella, Viola, Ruby and Alma Skalbeck. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Sophie (Rude) Skalbeck; brothers Marvin, Odean, Kenneth and Raymond; sisters Alice, Helen and Virginia. Sylvia was employed for many years at Eye's Family Store in Hanley Falls. She loved to cook and bake, work in the garden and take care of her flowers. She enjoyed animals. She was involved in the Hanley Falls Senior Citizen group, the Birthday Club and the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and the Quilting group. Blessed be Sylivia's memory among us, a precious child of God.
