Swen O. Swenson was born in Iowa on December 18, 1875, the son of Ole Swenson and Susie (Larson) Swenson. At a young age, he moved with his parents to Tyro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was confirmed by Pastor Moen in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. On October 19, 1901, he was united in marriage to Anna Anderson by Rev. Farseth. The young couple moved onto their farm two miles north and one east of Clarkfield where Mr. Swenson lived all his life. One year ago he entered the Sausele Nursing Home, Montevideo, Minnesota, where he passed away Friday, July 29, 1960, at 84 years of age. His wife preceded him in death in 1941 and one daughter, Verna, in 1920. Two sisters, Mrs. Alex Christianson and Mrs. Sophie Anderson, also preceded him in passing. He is survived by eight children, namely, Agnes of St. Louis, Missouri, Mrs. Frank Morris and Mrs. Melbourne Roisen of Montevideo, Palmer of Boyd, Minnesota, Ray of Clarkfield, Mrs. Carl Rickter of Canby, Minnesota, Alfred of Alaska, and Mrs. Roland Zackarias of Minneapolis. Two sisters, Mrs. Herman Christianson and Mrs. Nellie Benage of Clarkfield also survive as do 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends, all of whom will miss him.
